SBFM is proud to have pledged its support for the men and women of the UK armed forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the recruitment of service veterans and their families.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge made by businesses and organisations across the UK to commit to ensuring members of the armed forces community are treated fairly, and not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives compared to their peers.
By signing the covenant, SBFM has pledged its commitment to support service personnel, their dependents and veterans by providing employment opportunities, offering favourable employment terms to support reservist duties, and proactively nurturing pathways to new careers in facilities management following military service.
SBFM is already a forces-friendly organisation and has a history of supporting those who have left the service.
Adopting the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant further enhances the support to employees within the business with military connections. This includes supporting colleagues who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces.
To support the employment of veterans where possible, SBFM will recognise transferrable military skills and qualifications in its recruitment process, work with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to support the employment of service leavers and provide additional support or special consideration where necessary.
While also working to create a welcoming working environment that has the best possible support for the armed forced community, a culturally sensitive onboarding process, and raising awareness amongst existing staff through training and knowledge exchanges.

SBFM’s pledge acts as a timely reminder of the company’s commitment on the eve of National Armed Forces Day – a day dedicated to showing support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
