As the winter nights draw in and Christmas approaches, our minds are instinctively drawn to spending time with family, celebrations and merriment. The festive season should be a time of joy, but sadly for those experiencing homelessness it only brings colder weather, more dangerous conditions on the streets and loneliness.

That’s why, here at SBFM, we have decided to offer our support to a local hardworking charity, who continue to do unsung work to provide practical and emotional support to those without a home this Christmas.

Throughout December we will be raising much needed funds and goods for the charitable organisation St. George’s Crypt, a charity from Leeds that offers care, compassion and hope to the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from substance dependence, 365 days a year.

As temperatures plummet, for people with no option but to sleep on the streets, the risk of hypothermia, frost bite and flu, colds and viruses only increases. So as the long nights set in, our dedicated team will be busily gathering coats and clothing items including hats, gloves, and scarves to keep the homeless and vulnerable warm this winter.

We will also be donating small luxury items including toiletry gift sets and spray deodorants, shaving foam/gel and razors, and small boxes of chocolate, amongst others, to bring some festive cheer to those without a home this Christmas.

All items will be gathered and assembled in care packages for those in need this festive season, before being donated to St. George’s Crypt to distribute to the homeless community in Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire region.

Christmas is the season of giving and receiving, and your generous donations could help bring light to someone in their darkest times. You can support people experiencing homelessness today by donating online on the SBFM crowdfunding page:
