SBFM

Please could you talk us through your background in Facilities Management and your career journey at SBFM?

Hi! I’ve been in Facilities Management for 16 years, starting as a cleaner at Royal Mail. I joined SBFM 5 years ago as an Account Manager, managing contracts with corporate and logistics clients. Recognised for my client engagement and value creation, I was promoted to Operations Manager and later to National Operations Manager.

With our Logistics & Manufacturing portfolio expanding rapidly, I progressed to Divisional Director, and now in my current role as Business Unit Director, I oversee all aspects of SBFM’s services within Logistics & Manufacturing.

What are your main responsibilities as Business Unit Director for Logistics & Manufacturing?

Client satisfaction is my top priority, which involves thoroughly understanding their needs by closely engaging and collaborating with them to ensure we provide the best FM services possible.

I frequently interact with senior client leadership teams to align our services with their strategic goals, whether it’s supporting expansion, achieving sustainability or commercial targets, or advancing their ESG strategy.

A key part of my role is managing people to perform at their best to ensure we deliver the highest standards for our clients. Leading, engaging, and retaining the team is critical to delivering the service standards our clients expect and deserve.

What are the key considerations within Logistics and Manufacturing?

The sector is diverse, handling a wide range of goods from food and pharmaceuticals to heavy machinery, each with its own set of regulations and standards. For instance, clients adhering to BRC (British Retail Consortium) standards rely heavily on-site cleanliness, which directly impacts their success in audits. We pride ourselves on our audit record, reflecting our commitment to quality and high standards.

Addressing seasonal fluctuations, 24/7 operations, and evolving requirements are crucial in this dynamic sector. A bespoke solution tackling the typical challenges involved is essential. Clients also typically seek lean, efficient operations that offer continuous value for money. We work in partnership with them to drive commercial efficiencies, whilst still maintaining high standards.

What are your personal highlights and proudest moments at SBFM?

I’ve experienced significant personal growth at SBFM, marked by four promotions leading to my current role. Becoming SBFM’s expert operator and brand ambassador in this sector has been a major highlight for me.

I also take pride in supporting the development of my team members. Seeing colleagues progress in their careers and contributing to their growth is incredibly rewarding, and something I’m passionate about. I’m proud to support our Evolve initiative, and seeing the opportunities and progression it creates for people within my teams is always a highlight of my role.

My time with SBFM has been really fulfilling and rewarding, and I look forward to many more milestones ahead.

What sets SBFM apart?

We challenge the status quo and add continual value through our client partnership approach. We engage closely with our clients, from tender stage and throughout the partnership, aligning our priorities with theirs. Our deployment of innovation keeps us at the forefront of the industry and has seen significant benefits in the logistics space.

By leveraging and developing emerging technologies, we deliver unmatched levels of shift fulfilment, quality, and transparency. Our forward-thinking approach has enabled us to secure and retain a substantial portfolio of leading brands in this space.

What’s next for SBFM in Logistics & Manufacturing?

We’re looking forward to exciting opportunities in our Logistics & Manufacturing division, including potential collaborations with even more leading industry names. I’m excited to welcome new team members as we continue to expand our portfolio.

We’re also trialling and implementing various cutting-edge innovations, which will enable us to deliver even better and more efficient services for our clients, further enhancing our ability to meet and exceed their expectations. It’s exciting to see what improvements can be achieved as part of these trials.
