SBFM

Today marks World FM Day – a moment to recognise the people who help keep environments safe, clean and running every day. Across industries, from logistics and retail to workplaces and public spaces, Facilities Management plays a vital role in supporting both operations and the people who rely on them.

At SBFM, we believe FM is about more than maintaining environments – itโ€™s an opportunity to create meaningful impact. Through our Evolve initiative, we support individuals to gain recognised qualifications, develop practical skills and prepare for employment on release. This includes the work taking place within prison environments, where we deliver structured training programmes designed to create real pathways into work.

One example of this is our Cleaning Academy at HMP Wealstun, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Justice. The programme combines hands-on training with a recognised BICSc qualification, helping individuals build confidence, develop practical skills and take positive next steps towards employment.

For us, World FM Day is a reminder of the wider role our industry can play – not only in maintaining spaces, but in helping create opportunity, support inclusion and enable long-term progression.
